ZELDA HILL SMITH
Zelda Hill Smith, 78, a retired school teacher, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 3, 2011 after a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, FL on August 3, 1933 to Ira & Elma Hill, Sr., who preceded her in death. She graduated from Bay High School in Panama City, FL and graduated from Stetson College with a degree in Business Education. She taught school in Bay, Jackson and Leon Counties. She retired from Godby High School in 1992 and was at that time Chair of the Business Education Department. She was a devoted wife and mother and very active in mission work at First Baptist Church of Panama City. She loved to travel with her family and spend time at Callaway Gardens during the holidays. She loved to read and play the piano. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Smith; her children, Melody (Mike) Bolin, Holly (Chris) Hooper and Mark (Debbie) Smith; her grandchildren, Andrew, Travis, Jennifer, Lindsey, Zach, Megan and J.P; and one brother, Ira Hill, II. She is preceded in death by one son, David Lee Smith and one granddaughter, Morgan Christine Hooper. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison. Interment will follow in Callaway Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Zelda's name to the Woman's Missionary Union or to the Benevolence Committee at First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200 Panama City, FL 32402.
