In 1940 she received her degree from Albany School Of Beauty Culture, Albany, Ga. and married Grady F. Ingram in 1943. She moved with her husband as his job in road construction dictated through out Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana until moving to Panama City, Fl in 1959. She worked along side her husband as they built up their business, "Ingram's Standard Service Station and Garage" near the intersection of Harrison Ave. and Airport Rd. on Hwy 231. Gassing automobiles, washing automobile windows, vacuuming, checking oil and tire pressure and cashiering, were everyday business. When Hwy 231 was expanded to four lanes her husband had to move his business to Transmitter Rd. as Ingram's Automotive Air Conditioning, and she went to work for Leon's and later Smith's Ladies Shop. She also worked for Freezie and had a route through out Bay County, and for many years, refusing to retire; she then drove cars and trucks for Budget Rent-A-Car.
Mrs. Ingram's wish was to be cremated and her ashes cared for by her family and later incorporated with her husbands. The family wishes to thank Gulf Coast Hospital, the staff of the Emergency Room, the staff of ICU and the staff of the Step Down Unit. My special thanks to the many doctors who worked diligently to save her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Ingram's name to the Shriner's Burn Unit, or Covenant Hospice, or the American Heart Society.
