Wilson Summers III, much loved husband of Marilyn Merten Summers died March 14, 2017 at Bay Medical Center. He and his wife Marilyn have lived in Bay Point 38 years since he retired in 1979. A native of Louisville, KY, Wilson was born Feb. 12 th 1923 to the late Wilson Summers Jr. and Leona Summers. He attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Louisville. Wilson served in the Air Force flying combat missions in Italy during WWII. He was recalled during the Korean conflict, extending twice for the maximum number of combat missions allowable. Wilson was also a graduate of the Air Force Experimental Test Pilot School and assigned to the Flight Test Division Wright-Patterson A.F.B. in Dayton, Ohio. He left active service in 1959 to fly USAF tests for the McDonnell Aircraft Co. Wilson retired in 1979 as Director, Central Region of McDonnell Douglas Corp. Lt. Col. Summers was also an Air Force retiree. Marilyn and Wilson were married in Louisville, KY almost 73 years ago at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Wilson Summers IV and wife, Laurie of Ashburn, VA and Scott B. Summers and wife, Marsha of Scottsdale, AZ; Four grandchildren, Dr. Shawn, Kyle, Jennifer and Tamara; and six great-grandchildren. Memorialization will be by cremation and a family Catholic Mass we be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Rescue Mission or Catholic Charities.
