WILLIAM BARNEY STANLEY

William Barney Stanley, 90, of Panama City, passed away Monday, September 01, 2008 at a local nursing home. He was born July 18, 1918 in Geneva County, Alabama and had been a resident of Bay County since 1919. He retired from International Paper Company in August 1977, after 37 years as manager of finance and administrative services. He was a longtime member and deacon at Northside Baptist Church. He was also a member and Past Master of the Acme Masonic Lodge #222. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Martin Stanley and son, Bill Stanley. He is survived by two sons, Tom Stanley and wife Geri, Martin Stanley and wife Betty, all of Panama City, four grandchildren, Melissa Anderson, Dan Stanley, Daniel Strickland, Dallas Strickland and six great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jerry Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Barney Stanley.
