William "Bill" Scott Lawrence, 76, passed away on April 9, 2022. We lost the greatest man this world ever knew. Bill had an insatiable zest for life, never met a stranger, and could charm the pants off a snake. He was born in Panama City to the late Charles and Anna Lee Lawrence in 1945. He graduated from Bay High and then from the University of Tennessee, courtesy of the United States Navy. He worked as a civil engineer in various locations for several decades, including working for Oak Ridge National Lab, ABB Environmental in Knoxville and Tallahassee, as well as the project manager to build the F22 control tower at Tyndall Air Force Base. For the last 21 years, he has been the owner and operator of Florida Custom Cabinets. He was a great man, a great friend, a devoted husband, and an adoring father to his five children. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his brother, Robert "Bob" Lawrence and his sister-in-law, Elaine Lawrence. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margery, his children, Tammy Kirkland (Stephen) of Newnan, GA, Michael Lawrence (Tanza) of Knoxville, TN, David Tilson (Jennie) of Nashville, TN, David Lawrence of Albuquerque, NM, and his baby girl, Daina Lawrence Barber (Lance) of Swansboro, NC; grandchildren include: Josh, Hailey, Ryan, Cole, Erin, Daphne, Kylie, Shea, and William Knox. Bill is also survived by his brother, C.A. "Buddy" Lawrence, sisters-in-law, Lois Lawrence and Val Chandler, brother-in-law, Roger Chandler (Lynne), many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends whom Bill considered family. Thank you to the hospital staff at Bay Medical Trauma Center who went above and beyond in their care. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 6 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Fountain officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-6 pm prior to the service. Per Bill's request there will be no graveside services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations to the Humane Society or to St. Jude's Children Hospital in memory of Bill Lawrence.
