WILLIAM S. "BILL" ROBERTS

William S. "Bill" Roberts, 74, passed away peacefully in a local hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cullomburg, Alabama on October 8, 1938. He graduated from Southern Choctaw High School in Silas, Alabama in 1957. After graduating, he moved to Panama City. Bill retired with Independent Life/American General Insurance Company with 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Grace Roberts; and one brother, Mark Roberts. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Roberts; his children, William Stephen (Thelma) Roberts, Angela (John) Tucker, Brenda (Andrew) Taylor; seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Kaylee, Courtney, Johnny, Chloe, Lauren, Jonathan; three brothers, Paul Roberts, Jerry (Zeda) Roberts, Ray Roberts; one sister, Ruth (Keith) Purvis; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was an active, long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Panama City. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. The family would like to give a special thank you to Covenant Hospice and The Bridge at Bay St. Joe for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation, American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association in Bill's honor.
