Obituary

William P. "Bill" Lee, 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  He was born July 3, 1925. He was a Bay High graduate and proudly served two years in the United States Army during World War II.  Bill graduated from University of Florida in 1951 with a degree in Horticulture. Margaret and Bill operated Lee's Nursery for 27 years.  He went on to provide consultation services for the Panama City Beach Tourist Development Center until stepping down at age 97.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Baker Lee , his parents, Wayne and Aimee Lee; his siblings:  Wayne Lee, Jim Lee, Aimee Jo Nelson and Ruth Williams.  Bill is survived by one sister, Anne Carey Herner; two daughters Sara Burks  (Wendell), Kathryn Lee; four grandsons, Andrew Burks (Lynne), Harrison Burks, Conner Burks, Gregory Gist  (Rachel); five great grandchildren, Malcolm, Armin, Phoebe Burks, Cooper and Sutton Gist.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Pam Holland and Ethel Banks of Panama City and the staff at The Blake at the Township in Ridgeland, MS.
