Obituary

William J. Marlow, 84, of Panama City, Florida died July 24, 2020.

W.J. was born on September 7, 1935 in Bonifay, Florida and resided in Panama City since age 3.  He graduated from Bay High School in 1953 and then served his country in the National Guard out of Dothan, Alabama for 9 years.  He was employed by Winn-Dixie for over 50 years.  He started with Winn-Dixie as a bag boy and worked his way up to Merchandiser until he retired.  His job moved him to several areas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Annie Marlow; one brother, James Wilton Marlow; and three sisters, Irene Way (and her husband Bob), Montez Marker (and her husband Bill), Eulene Sexton (and her husband Kenneth) and his faithful companion, Buddy.

He is survived by loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen; a beloved son, Gregory Marlow (Mari); and a grandson, Samuel Marlow; two brothers, Gerald Marlow (Patricia) and Wayne Marlow (Lucie); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with Sam and Buddy and vacationing in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church, where he attended Senior Sunday School Class.  He loved receiving and sending emails.  He was a joy to be around. He never met a stranger and always wanted to help you.

Funeral services will begin with viewing at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home.  Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dave Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at his home after interment.
