REV. WILLIAM DENNIS HOPKINS

Rev. William Dennis Hopkins, 77, of Lynn Haven, died Monday, October 8, 2007 in a local hospital. He was born July 19, 1930 in Chumuckla, Florida to William David & Beatrice Hopkins. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1972, retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. From 1973 to 1986, he owned and operated Hopkins Welding Company. In 1987, he graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, FL, with a degree in Theology. He served as pastor of many churches in the area, including Temple Baptist, Midway Baptist, Howard Creek Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Sunnyside and most recently, a home church, The Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Hopkins and two brothers, Carlos Hopkins and Cecil Wayne Hopkins. He is survived by a son, John W. Hopkins and wife, Lisa; 2 grandchildren, Chuck Hopkins, Kristen N. Hopkins; 2 sisters, Mrs. Pauline Harrell, Mrs. Mavis Nichols and husband, Leo. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Temple Baptist Church with Rev. David Nichols officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. CST in the Mitchell Cemetery, Bristol, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Those desiring may make a contribution to the charity of your choice in memory of Rev. Dennis Hopkins.
