Obituary

William Herman Hester, 94 of Panama City, FL passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home.  He was born in Tuscumbia, AL to Noah and Lillie Mae Hester.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anna Lane Hester, two grandsons, Joshua Hoskins and Matthew Hoskins.  He is survived by two daughters, Linda Adcock (Charlie), Pamela Boe (Richard); three grandchildren, Thomas Hoskins, Jr., Dr. Richard A. Boe, Jr. (Amy), Kimberly Boe;  great granddaughters, Kayle Hoskins and Lydia Boe; great-great granddaughter, Karma Cook; brother, Vance Hester; sister, Irene Holman and special nephew, Ron Holman.

He was a resident of Bay County since 1954.  He was a member of Cove Baptist Church for 20 years.  Then, a member of First United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where he was a member of the Lillie Pennington Sunday School Class.  Active in his church, he served as usher and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.  He and Ann loved to travel and this included driving the church bus to take the youth on many trips.  They enjoyed many years of travelling around the U.S. in a motor home.  They also travelled around the world, visiting 16 countries.

Bill owned and operated his own business, Hester Motors.  Retiring in his mid-fifties, he spent much of his time helping elderly neighbors.  Friends coming to visit would usually find him in his garage working on his latest project.  Another of his favorite pastimes was fishing.

He was a Mason and member of ACME Lodge 222 and he was a Worshipful Master.  He was also a Shriner.

Funeral  services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m.. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Luther officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Those desiring may make memorial donations to the BrightFocus Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 in memory of William Hester.  The family would also like to thank his caregivers, Frances, Letecia, Jim, Sydney, Carla & Lilly for their excellent care and compassion.
