William David Gillespie, 71, of Panama City, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on June 2, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to Forrest and Margaret Gillespie. William served in the Air National Guard. He worked as a Millwright at Berg Steel Pipe Corporation, and retired after 26 years. After retirement, he became a judge for the Florida Barbeque Association, and also wrote an online guest blog for Food For Thought. He was an avid NASCAR and Florida State fan. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Shirah Gillespie; four children, Michelle Gillespie Wilkerson (James), Stacey Arthur Shirah (Steve), Jay Arthur, Kimberly Gillespie Colonna (Shaun); five grandchildren, Tyler Wilkerson, Zachary Shirah, Clayton Arthur, Ashley Arthur, Connor Colonna; two brothers, Tommy Gillespie, Danny Gillespie; four nephews, John, Rodger, Michael and Dwayne Gillespie. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 2:30 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Brannon officiating. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Bay County Humane Society, 1600 Bay Ave., Panama City, FL, 32405, in memory of William "David" Gillespie.
