William Shelton Coatney, Sr., father, grandfather, and uncle was called home by our Heavenly Father on October 11, 2016 at the age of 70.  Shelton was born on September 17, 1946 in Bonifay, FL to Randle Lee, Sr. and Kate Coatney.

Shelton resided in Panama City, but his heart, soul and roots were in Vernon, FL where he spent the majority of his life.  He was the "baby" of 9 children and was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Loyce, Bernice, Randall Lee, Jr., Franklin, and Adron and 3 sisters, Corene Sellars, Geraldine Burdeshaw, and Catherine Davidson.

He is survived by a son, William S. Coatney, Jr. (Lora), two grandchildren, William Coatney and April Coatney and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shelton retired from Steel City as an iron worker and enjoyed every minute of retirement with his furry 4-legged best friends, Flipper and Tig.  He never met a stranger, never asked for much and was a very giving person--Shelton will be missed by all.  Gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 3pm in the Vernon City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 2:30 – 3:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
