William David Camp, of Panama City, passed away on Friday,
May 21, 2021, knowing that he was loved by his whole family,
friends and community. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to C.D.
& Irene Camp and moved with his family in 1947 to St. Andrews
where his father bought a motel. His family joined St. Andrews
Baptist Church within weeks of their arrival, and the church was
an important part of his life. Bill met his future wife,
Ann, through the church, and they celebrated their 66th
anniversary last June. He was a respected, decorated Air Force
veteran of 20 years, with tours in England, Germany, Vietnam
and Turkey as well as stateside. Upon his return to Panama City,
he opened Camp's Roofing which he operated until retirement.
Bill had a vast knowledge of almost everything from computers,
and cars to appliances, and he was always ready to use his skills
and time to help any who needed him. He was a natural
storyteller who kept his listeners laughing. His legendary tales at
family gatherings and the Annual Riverfront Expedition Group
will continue to amuse everyone, and all who had the fortune
of knowing Bill are richer for having him in our lives.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles
Camp. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Camp; four
children, Steve Camp (Deborah), Terry Camp (MarthaCarol),
Pam Mercer, Greg Camp (Pam), seven grandchildren, Brittany
Rogers (John), Cara Brashier (Andrew), Amy Loria (Steven),
Megan Cravatt (Jerry), Blake Mercer, Lori Mercer, Julia Camp;
nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sheila Olmstead
(Charlie), Sue Coker (Jimmy), and beloved nieces and nephews.
