William "Bill" Arthur Brightwell Jr., 89, of Lynn Haven, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015. He was born June 23, 1926 in Montgomery, Alabama. He loved playing baseball and was a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Bill served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the retired owner and operator for Gulf Van Company. He was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Louise "Lucy" Kyser Brightwell; son, William Arthur "Art" Brightwell III (Renee); daughter, Joann Brightwell Forshey (Bill); 4 grandchildren, William Brightwell IV (Laurel); Connie Blalock (Josh); Kim Heath, Stacey Lynn Myrick (Vick); sister-in-law, Shirley K. Folmer (Ray); brother-in-law, Don Kyser (Peggy); and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
