WILLIAM A. "BILL" MERKLE, SR.

William A. "Bill" Merkle, Sr., 88, of Panama City, died Friday, February 8, 2008. He was born on August 6, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a retired Tax Auditor for the State of Florida. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Marie Merkle. He is survived by his son, William A. "Bill" Merkle, Jr., of Lynn Haven and grandson, William A. Merkle, III, of Chattanooga, TN. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Bill Merkle, Sr.
