MAJ. WILLIAM A. FULTON, JR., U.S.A.F. (Ret.)
Maj. William A. "Bill" Fulton, Jr., U.S.A.F. (Ret.), 80, of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 in his home. He was born August 26, 1930 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He was an Anesthetist for the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1978, and he continued to practice at Jackson Hospital, Montgomery, Alabama until 1991. He had a distinguished military career, which began as an enlisted man in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, where he reached the rank of Boatswain's Mate while serving on the U.S.S. New Jersey. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Major, having won numerous medals, including the Bronze Star for meritorious service under fire in Vietnam while serving with the 903rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. He was a Grand Master of the Grand Masonic Lodge (Scottish Rite) and a member of the Philae Shrine Temple, both in Nova Scotia. He was a member of the Southside Commandary #83 Knights Templar and the Grand Masonic Lodge of Texas – Ridglea #1341, both in Fort Worth, TX. He was also a member of VFW Post 96, in Montgomery, AL. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen W. Fulton; his daughter, Elizabeth Anderson and husband Mark; his son, William A. "Buddy" Fulton, III and wife Loree; three grandchildren, Nicholas Hanley, Kayla Fulton, and Whitney Fulton; two sisters, Cassie Wallace and husband Bob, and Janie Green and husband Bill; and one brother, John Fulton. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jack Hankins and Rev. Mike Young officiating.
