WILLIAM DERREL ALLEN
William Derrel Allen, 64, of Panama City Beach, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in his home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 21, 1945 in Marianna, Florida. He was a 1964 graduate of Bay High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. He was the retired owner of Allen's Seafood Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ruby Mae Allen and a sister, Mary Larkin. He is survived by his wife, Merrie Dawn Allen; daughter, Amber Noel Allen; three sons, Aaron Derrell Allen, Andrew Christian Allen, Adam Jordan Allen; sister, Jesse May Olive and husband, Oscar; mother and father-in-law, Chuck and Virginia Seal; sister-in-law, Karen Simonsen and husband, John; two brothers-in-law, Chip Seal and wife, Amy and Chris Seal and wife, JonAnn. He also had several cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the Panhandle of Florida with whom he shared many fond memories. Derrel enjoyed fishing and shrimping with his sons. He was a loving husband and father. Plus, many remembered his kindness in giving back to the community. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m., October 5, 2009, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 or to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Derrel Allen.
