Wesley David "Wes"/"W.D."/"The Shadow"/"Papa"/"Paw-Paw"/"P.P."
Forbes, 80, of Lynn Haven, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2014 in his home. He was born on February 21, 1934 in Pritchard, Alabama to Clifton James Forbes and Evelyn Vivian Wisenhant Forbes, both deceased.

In 1951, he graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. He was recruited at 17 years of age to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and worked in Washington D.C. for 2 years. He married Ellen Yvonne Duke on July 15, 1953 in Lucedale, Mississippi. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 4 years where he was honorably discharged. He served in the Federal Civil Service for 42 years with the 325th fighter wing at Tyndall Air Force Base. He was an avid life-long University of Alabama fan (Roll Tide) and was a dedicated season ticket holder. He loved to attend any and all academic programs and sporting events, no matter how insignificant. He had a love for square dancing and round dancing, from which he received his nickname "The Shadow." He was a dedicated worker and volunteer at the First Baptist Church of Panama City in the benevolence ministry, the FAITH evangelism ministry, and many others.


He was preceded in death by his son, Clifton James "Pete" Forbes. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years and a devoted husband to, Ellen Yvonne "Bonnie" Duke Forbes; loving father to Cindy Coffey (Robert) and Lynn Forbes; grandfather to Cynthia Brandy Lowery (Richard), Steven Brent Barnett (Tara), James Michael Garner and Mary-Ellen Garner; great-grandfather to, Allie "Bug" Savannah Ellis; and brother-in-law of, William Clary (Brenda). He was also soon to be proud great grandfather to Rhett and Brenley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Panama City with Rev. Clyde Ellison and Rev. Bill Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are appreciated to the First Baptist Church Benevolence or Grand Square Dance Hall.
