Weldon Burrell Thomas, 65, of Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away July 4, 2009. He was born May 4, 1944 in Pickens, S.C and had been a resident of Panama City since 1986. He served in the United States Navy. He was a former Vice President of Accounting for Sowell Aviation and was currently co-owner of Mad Hatter Automotive Centers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City, where he served as a Deacon and was also a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Downtown Rotary Club. He was a pilot, an avid woodworker, a gardener and most of all a family man. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Thomas of Panama City Beach; daughter, Carla Lovett and husband David, granddaughter, Amanda Lovett all of Lynn Haven; 4 brothers, Harley Thomas Jr., Doug Thomas, Larry Thomas, Gary Thomas, 5 sisters, Doris Wilson, Bonnie Burgin, Sybil Clark, Joyce McCall, Peggy Crum, all of South Carolina and Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
