DR. WEEMS ROLAND MCARTHUR MD

Dr. Weems Roland McArthur MD, 74, of Panama City, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Gulf Coast Medical Center after a 3 month battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born July 20, 1935 in Poinsett County, Arkansas to Hays & Rosyln McArthur Sr. He graduated from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock School of Medicine in 1963. He did his residency at University Hospitals in Jacksonville, FL. He had been practicing orthopaedic surgery in Panama City since 1969. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Hays McArthur Jr., Kenneth McArthur, Leston McArthur and Forrest McArthur. He is survived by his wife, Julia James McArthur PhD; 4 children, Rolynda Lee McArthur Scott JD and husband M. Nelson Scott; Weems Roland "Lynn" McArthur JD and wife, Christy Trawick McArthur; Claudia Raye McArthur Klarer DVM. and husband, William Ronald Klarer; Lucas James McArthur MD; 7 grandchildren, Marion Nelson Scott Jr., Margaret Lee Scott, Julian McArthur Scott, Duncan Merck Scott, Claudia Reis Klarer, William Reif Klarer, Weems Roland McArthur III; brother, John Dickson McArthur Sr., 2 sisters, Anijuan Denton, Elizabeth Chandler and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous "James family" in-laws in Little Rock, AR. A celebration mass will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Holy Nativity Episcopal Church with The Rev. Steve Bates, The Rev. Tom Weller and The Rev. Julia Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 222 Bonita Ave., Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Dr. McArthur. The family would like to thank Dr. Sidney Daffin, Dr. Samuel Combs and the Bay County Medical Society for their kindness during Dr. McArthur's recent illness.
