Walter Joe Leake, 84, of Panama City, FL , passed away on Sunday, March 01, 2015. He was born October 6, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia to Oran Ray & Ruth Lacey Leake Sr.. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Panama City in 1967 to work as a saleman for Kraft Foods. He was the retired owner and operator of Forest Park Nursery. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. Joe was an avid golfer and gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ray Leake, Hunter Leake and a sister, Lou Ann Snell. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Burton Leake; 3 children, Becky Berry (Tommy), Ronnie Leake (Linda), Shelly Hudson (Ron); 7 grandchildren, Brent Berry (Stephanie), Jared Berry (Audrey), Joey Leake (Sheena), Justin Leake (Angie), Jordan Leake, Autumn Hudson, Clint Hudson; 6 great grandchildren, Griffin Berry, Gabi Berry, Ali Berry, Shiloh Berry, Austin Leake, Jaxon Leake ; beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison and Rev. Eric Berry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
