Vivian Coy Gay, 95, of Panama City, passed away peacefully at his beloved camp on Monday, May 16, 2016. He was born May 23, 1920 in Panama City and had been a lifelong resident here. He was a retired civil service training aid director. Coy served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bertha Finch Gay. He is survived by a son, John W. Gay (Terry); 2 grandsons, Stephen Gay, Christopher Gay (Renee); 4 great grandsons, Taylor Gay, Jackson Gay, Peyton Gay, Hayden Gay; brother, Carl Gay and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are John W. Gay, Stephen Gay, Christopher Gay, George Gay, Kevin Gay and Keith Gay. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church and members of the Phileo Sunday School Class. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rush Akin and staff, Dale Jordan, Sara Hall, Tracy Bullock along with Covenant Hospice for the care they provided.
