VIVAN LEON ROBERTS

Vivan Leon Roberts, Jr., 81, of Panama City, died Sunday, May 18, 2008. He was born on November 8, 1926 in Lynn Haven. He was a retired electrical engineer for IBM having worked in New York and North Carolina. He was a member of the Parker Masonic Lodge #142 and was a volunteer for the Council on Aging. He was an elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivan & Mary Ella Roberts, and his siblings, Leslie Roberts; Roy Roberts; Ralph Roberts and wife Doris; Elizabeth Steed and husband, Ed and Mary Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Roberts, three children, Susan Ratzlaff and husband Mark, of Woodstock, MD, Michael Roberts and wife Bonnie, of Vass, NC, Teresa Green and husband Larry, of Wake Forest, NC, six grandchildren, Lauren Ratzlaff, Caitlin Ratzlaff, Anne Marie Green, Lawrence Green, Alisa Green, Abigail Roberts, two sisters, Ellamae Benton and husband, Charles, Vivian Page and husband, Russell; sister-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, brother-in-law, Vaston Mathis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven or the Bay County Council on Aging in memory of Vivan Roberts. The Parker Masonic Lodge #142 will open one hour prior to the service.
