Obituary

Lillie Virginia Sorrentino Granberry, 96, of Lynn Haven, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in a local hospital. She was born March 8, 1919 in Chattahoochee, Florida to Ralph & Lillie Sorrentino. Virginia was a longtime member of the Bay Medical Auxiliary with over 10,000 hours of service as Chairman of Outpatient and later becoming an honorary member in 2013 after moving to Mathison Retirement Center. Virginia was also a longtime member of the Women's Auxiliary and Golf Association of Panama Country Club. Besides her lifetime membership and participation at First United Methodist Church of Panama City, she was also active in Lynn Haven United Methodist Church as a member of the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group, the Nettie Sanders Circle and the 55 Plus Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Eugene Granberry; daughter-in-law, Barbara Granberry; brother, Ralph Sorrentino; and 3 sisters, Anita Pospisil, Catherine Wilson and Gloria Taylor. She is survived by 2 sons, Curtis Granberry Jr.; Michael Granberry (Jackie); a daughter, Elizabeth Segrest (Steve); 3 grandsons, Michael Granberry (Rita), Destin Granberry (Melissa), Craig Segrest; 2 great grandchildren, Logan Granberry and Blake Granberry; sister, Marie Waller Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31 at 11 a.m.at the First United Methodist Church of Panama City with Rev. Steve Rascoe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Michael Granberry Jr., Destin Granberry, Craig Segrest, Kevin Whaley, Jacob Titus, and Lee Waller. Honorary pallbearers will be the volunteers of the Bay Medical Center Auxiliary. The family would like to send a special thanks to her longtime caregiver, Nancy Fussell; the staff at Mathison's Retirement Center, the staff at Bay Medical Center ICU and Dr. Sidney Daffin. Those desiring to may make donations to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 903 East 4th Street, Panama City, Florida 32401 in memory of Virginia Granberry.
