Mr. Victor "Vic" G. Hamm, 64, of Panama City, FL., passed away peacefully at 12:30am on Monday, February 29th, 2016. He was born in Panama City; FL. Vic graduated from Bay High School in 1969 and attended Gulf Community College in the early 1970's. As the second generation owner of Panama City Florist & Gifts for 51 years, it was always a privilege serving the floral needs of Bay County. To quote Vic "It was always a great pleasure to be able to work with all the many great customers and wonderful employees."
After retiring from the family owned and operated Panama City Florist and Gifts Vic worked part time at Dr. Vape It in Callaway. "I was truly lucky to be hired by the Dr. Vape It team, where I worked with many team players like the owners Arthur and Victoria Kineard and I cannot forget our great general manager Tim Greggo. Once again I really enjoyed helping our Dr. Vape It customers."
Vic was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Panama City. He was an accomplished organist and filled in at many church services through the years. He held several offices within Florida Panhandle Florists Association and was a well-respected administrator and teacher in the floral industry. Vic not only created beauty for others, he taught others to create art through floral design.
Preceded in death by his parents Gary "Pete" Hamm and Marie M. Hamm, his grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins. Vic is survived by his friend and companion Michael A. Cobb, his nephew Nathan Warren (Uncle Vic was always proud of you) and many cousins, nephews, nieces and dear, loving friends.
There will be no visitation or service at the funeral home or cemetery. Memorialization will be by cremation at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life reception for friends to be held at a later date. And yes, Hawaiian shirts should be worn in honor of Vic's friendship and love!
Special thank you to: 1. Brian Fisher who dropped everything and jumped on a plane to come from Washington DC to help with my care. Thanks Blake Velde for your guy's kindness. 2. Dr. Tim Smith, 3. Dr. Michael Noble, 4. Dr. William Tony McKenzie, 5. Gulf Coast Medical Center, 6. Bay Medical Center, 7. UF Health Shands Hospital, 8. Leila Pryor, 9. Lisa Despres and all the really great staff at Covenant Care.
Expressions of grief should be by donations to any charitable animal rescue organization or to Covenant Hospice. Vic loved all animals and hated to see them suffer in any way. There aren't enough words to describe the love, care and dedication of the people that work for Covenant Hospice. They are truly selfless, humble and giving souls. Thank you so much for all you did for Vic.
"Jesus called…and Victor answered"
