Vicki E. "Gus" Weaver

( September 12, 1948 - February 2, 2024 )

Vicki E "Gus" Weaver September 12, 1948~February 2, 2024. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Carrolll Jerome Mason (CJ) and Dorothy "Dot" Mason. She has 4 siblings: Jerry Mason( Dean), Toni Scott  (Billy), Wendi Tilden (David), and Leslie Medlock (deceased.) Her siblings gave her the nickname "Gus" that ended up being her trademark. She met and married Bobby Weaver on August 5, 1967 and had 3 children, Marlenna Weaver, Brandy Swett (Michael), and Danielle Weaver-Ale (Joanna.) 5 months later Bobby and Vicki were off to Italy to defend those awesome Italian restaurants serving in the USAF for 3 years.

The couple moved back stateside and Gus put Bobby through college. They definitely did have some happy times. Bobby started an apparel company. Gus became a Christian and was always strong in her faith. A few years later they decided it was time to move to Panama City and away they went. If it weren't for Gus, Bobby admitsI would still be on my way in a handbasket headed "South"...(FAR SOUTH.) It's not uncommon  that the PC was hot in the summer but it couldn't hold a candle to the South talking that is clearly implied..and you know WHERE we are talking about! Gus was extremely strong in her Christian faith. She was an intercessor and prayer warrior that NEVER ceased praying for anyone and everyone. Even when she was not feeling well, she would lift up her family and friends in prayer. She gained a second family at Forest Park Church. She was a member from 1987 until her homegoing on February 2, 2024,

Gus was persistent and wanted to make sure her friends and family knew about Jesus. Gus kept bugging Bobby about this "Jesus guy" and one day, it finally worked and Bobby decided to this Christianity a shot. she finally talked me into giving him a shot. The two ended up divorcing soon after moving to Panama City. Bobby admits it was the WORST DECISION HE EVER MADE! Anyhow, Jesus kept working on his heart, belief system, and a total wake up call when their eldest daughter, Marly, got a brain tumor in 2007. It was about a million dollar surgery and it was considered null and void by none other than Jesus. (No cost, just another Jesus Miracle.)  And to end this story, on Christmas of 2001, you would have thought their three daughters were going to Disney World because their parents announced they were getting REMARRIED! Can we say, this was definitely another glimpse of Jesus' impact. Bobby expressed that this was now THE BEST DECISION he had ever made. We owe Jesus and big, fat Thank you!

Above all else, Gus fiercely loved her family, friends and church family. She was spunky, sassy, intelligent, and super funny. There are times she would laugh for hours. She might have even snorted too! She was thoughtful and loved to talk on the phone with her family, especially girl chats with her sisters. She absolutely loved music (especially The Gaither Vocal Band and Motown music.) Just minutes before her trip to be with Jesus, she actually had the Gaither Band playing on her tv. They must have been getting her warmed up for Heaven. She was a fighter, stronger than she knew. She NEVER gave up, against all odds.

Vicki/Gus taught school for over 20 years at Surfside Middle School and worked with kiddos that had some learning disabilities and challenges. Her heart was ALWAYS in it. She was incredibly generous in every aspect. Her love for others was unmatched. In 2017, she finally received one of her ultimate wishes. Her middle daughter, Brandy, had her granddaughter, Avellyn "Avey." To say Avey was the mini love of her life is an understatement. She never stopped loving others, praying, and fighting for her precious life. She was a great conversationalist and a true "cheerleader" for her loved ones. She was an encouraging and supportive lady! We have faith in knowing that she is finally healed and restored. She is definitely dancing and singing with Jesus. There may even be a little Motown playing in the background. Most of the time babies' first words are "Ma Ma" or "Da Da." Guaranteed, Gus' first word when she entered those pearly gates is none other than, "GLORY!"

p.s. Hey Gus, how's Heaven treating ya?... not too shabby, huh?We love and miss ya, girlfriend.

p.s.s. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11 am in the Forest Park Church.
