VERA "BEDIE" McNIEL
Vera "Bedie" McNiel, 94, of Panama City, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2006 at a local nursing facility. Bedie was born on October 22, 1911 in Excel, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.O. McNiel, a son, L.E. McNiel, brothers, George Shelley and James Shelley, and sisters, Alma Johnson, Buford Linam, Clara Sims, Viola "Lamb" Shelley and Laverne Shelley. She is survived by her son, Jimmy McNiel and wife Gloria, grandsons, Jimmy McNiel II and L.E. McNiel, Jr., daughter-in-law, Frances McNiel, granddaughter, Terri McNiel, 3 great grandchildren, Samantha McNiel, Amanda McNiel, James Alan McNiel, brothers, Joe H. Shelley and wife Betty and John Shelley, sister, Lois Hines, 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Hyatt and Juanita McNiel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morris Hyatt of Excel, Alabama and Rev. Tom Daniels of Lynn Haven officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Community Health Services and Covenant Hospice.
