Vera Elizabeth Shropshire Hodge

Vera Elizabeth Shropshire Hodge, 86, born November 16 1921, died peacefully in her sleep, Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Clifford Sims State Veterans Nursing Home. She will be truly missed by all the staff there, her loving children Cindy, Priscilla, Jim & Daniel, all her loving grand children, Michele, Ervin, Neil, Dana, Tommy, Maria & Kyle, great grandchildren, all the friends & relatives who were part of her life and especially her best friend & sister Ruth, her baby sister, Rebecca and her two brothers, Gerry & Joe.

Vera joined the Army in August 1943 and met a handsome man, Anthony Hodge, who she then married on Valentines Day 1946. They shared a wonderful life together until they both became ill with Alzheimer's disease in their late 70's. We should all be so blessed to have a marriage that was as strong as theirs was and the faith that they had in Jesus Christ. Tony was the love of her life and when he passed on January 25th 2008, part of her went with him.

We will celebrate their beautiful life together at a memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24th 2008, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.
