Vera Daphne Brooks Tuggle age 80 passed away on September 26, 2025. She was born on January 27,1945 to Vera Voncile Brooks and George Brooks. She attended Andalusia High School and Troy University where she graduated in 1966. She worked as a Math teacher in Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee. She settled in Panama City with the love of her life Richard Tuggle, whom she met while attending college and married in 1967. She taught Math at Bay High School and eventually left teaching to become a housewife, then mother and worked alongside Richard in his State Farm Office. As a mother, she was actively involved in her children's education and their extracurricular activities. Later, she would volunteer in many ways in her community helping others. Throughout Daphne's life she brought her belief in God with her whatever she did. She was a faithful member of her church. She taught Bible Class from the very young to our senior citizens, provided meals and visits to the sick and elderly and helped those in need in her church and her community. She and her husband loved to travel and did so extensively before health issues brought a halt to their travels. She also had many hobbies. She loved to paint landscapes in oil, knit, crochet, embroider, sew and quilt. She love all kinds of flowers especially her roses and could have been found most days working in her yard. She would want to be remembered for her faith in God, her love of giving to others and her love for her family
Daphne was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kelly Daphne Tuggle. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Tuggle, her son, Casey Brantley Tuggle, his wife April, his daughter, Morgan, his son Jesse, and his step-son Zack. She is also survived by her sister, Wynonia and her husband, Gene Terry Adkins, and their children, William Adkins, Sandra Adkins, and Leah Barnes and her husband Cody. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Shelia Scofield-Roland and her children, Heather Darnell and Tyler Scofield.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her
