Obituary

Thomas Delano Suggs, 89, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, November 27 th , 2022 with loved ones by his side.  Born in Lynn Haven, Florida on March 12, 1933 to Oscar & Bertie Suggs.  Delano was a band member and graduate of Bay High School.  There he met the love of his life "Mary Sue", celebrating this year their 67 years of faithful marriage. During his lifetime he joined and served in the Florida Army National Guard for 34 years becoming a marksman and jungle expert.  While working on his career at Southern Bell and AT&T for 44 years, Delano learned to fly airplanes, acquiring his private pilots license.  He was on the Board of Directors for Telco of Florida Credit Union, as well as many other programs and boards for work, military, schools, churches and communities locally as well as abroad.  One of his favorite things in his later years was playing Santa Claus for the hospitals, grocery stores, schools, Navy Base, banks and family.  He was the perfect fit with his sparkling blue eyes, handsome grey beard, adorned by his contagious smile and humbling strength of a saint.  He was a Christian by faith.  He was a member of the Lynn Haven Baptist Church as a young man, where he and Sue began their lifetime commitment together moving onto First Assembly of God of Panama City, as members, growing their family with two daughters. Always staying true to God's 10 commandments and the twelve principles of the Boy Scouts Law as well as the Army motto.  To never tire of doing what is right, To be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.  To always honor God, family and his country.  Delano was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Bobby Suggs, Imogene Myers; son-in-law, John Amick III , sister-in-law Cynthia Crutchfield and his precious bride Sue.  He is survived by two daughters, Cyndi McKinney (Richard), Sonia Amick; five grandchildren, Justin Amick, Krissy Botzong (Ryan), Elizabeth Amick, Mary D'Aoust (Michael), Jessica Dykes (Nathan); five great grandchildren, Corinne D'Aoust, Nathan D'Aoust, Allison Botzong, Adam Botzong, Ainsley Amick; two brother-in-laws, Wallace Crutchfield, Eddie Crutchfield Sr. (Martha) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Never meeting a stranger.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Friday prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
