Obituary

Thomas Franklin Skipper Sr., passed away on November 28, 2018 in Florence, Alabama after an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1936 in Dothan, Alabama moving to Panama City as a teenager. He served in the United States Air Force, the National Guard and the Reserves. He had a degree in Theology from Gulf Coast College and a degree from Haney Technical Center. Tom was a retired barber and a minister of the Church of Christ. He also was a real estate agent and television repairman. He was the owner of Skipper's Barber and Beauty Shop on Beck Ave. It is still in operation after fifty-five years. He was a member of a barber shop quartet and loved bluegrass, gospel and country music. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.W. & Naomi Skipper; his wife, Lucille Skipper and a son, George Edward Skipper. He is survived by his wife, Ann Skipper; two sons, Tommy Skipper (Melissa), David Skipper (Trinia); a daughter, Patty Braford (Jim); brother, James Skipper (Maureen); sister, Polly Bullen; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Reece officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Skipper, David Skipper, Jim Braford, Martin Zahnd, Patrick Skipper and Chase Bayne. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Jones, Trey Ramey, James Skipper and George Warren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Tom's memory to the Cherry Street Church of Christ 6321 Cherry Street, Panama City, FL 32404, building fund.
