Thomas Preston Berry, 87, of Lynn Haven, Florida died on June 3, 2018. He was born in Brea, California May 17, 1931 and grew up in the mountains of Northwest Arkansas. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas.
He served in the Signal Corps of the U,S. Army for 20 years. He was a fixed wing and helicopter pilot and he established the first Air Traffic Controller course for the U.S. Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama. After retirement he was employed by AR INC Research Corporation in Annapolis, Maryland where his duties included certification of the first airborne Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) on a commercial airplane in regular service.
He was predeceased by his son, Thomas P. Berry, Jr. of Corning, NY, his parents Fred Troy Berry and Anna Bolinger Berry, a sister, Louise Hendrix and brother, Lyndell of Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Berry, a daughter, Elisabeth Nelson and husband Bruce, a daughter in law, Susan Berry of Corning, NY and three grandchildren Wendy Nelson, Christopher and Kevin Berry and two brothers, Fred and Richard Berry.
