Thelma Jean Gladstone, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.She worked as a math teacher for 38 years retiring in 1999 and then traveled with her husband until he passed in 2005 and continued to travel to places as varied as China and Antarctica until her first grandchild arrived in 2009. She was a member of Palo Alto Church of Christ for 52 years where she worked extensively in the nursery for over 45 years. Her hobbies included reading and painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Gladstone; Brother-in-law, RV Childers; Father, Finis Fowlkes; Mother, Eva Fitzpatrick Guthrie; one uncle and his wife, Hance & Bertha Mae Fowlkes; one sister, Peggy Byrd.

She is survived by one son, William Gladstone; grandson, Fox Gladstone; granddaughter, Isobel Gladstone; sister, Norma Childers; daughter-in-law, Karla Oddo; niece, Tajuana Davis; nephew, Kevin Childers; three brothers, Larry Fowlkes, Johnny Stanford, Thomas Stanford; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Saint Jude Children's Hospital or Smile Train in memory of Thelma Gladstone.
