She and her husband came to Panama City in 1946 and raised their family on Bonita Avenue. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and the Women's Progressive Sunday School Class. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked at Ideal Bakery, Holland's Boutique, S&H Green Stamp store, sold Avon, and later with her husband, worked at Miracle Strip Beach Motel at Panama City Beach. She supported her children and grandchildren in their school and civic activities, loved working in her flowers, and fishing at Howard Creek, outings with her friends, reading, and watching Braves baseball. Her 93 years of life provided her family countless stories of growing up during the Depression and living a life of gratitude and resourcefulness, not wasting but making the most of simple things and enjoying life to the fullest, treasuring friends and family, keeping a sense of humor, and exemplifying a life of Christian faith.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 30th at the First United Methodist Church of Panama City from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mahsood Ahmad and staff, Dr. Bussie Evans, Coopers Drugs, Tender Touch Home Health Care staff, and Covenant Hospice staff for their loving and compassionate care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mrs. Johnson's memory to the building fund at First United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
