Steven Carl Chestnut - Age 69; a native of Panama City, Florida and a resident of Mobile, Alabama since 2013, died Wednesday, March 13, 2024 peacefully at his home following an illness. Steven was a U. S. Air Force veteran and an active member of Authentic Life Church of Mobile, Alabama. His passion in life was his family,. After his family his passion was law enforcement. He was employed as a police officer with the Panama City Beach Police Department. Later he joined the Bay County Sheriff's Department for many years. Special appreciation to Tommy Ford, Frank McKeithen, and Greg Peel, special friends Jon Di Quatro and Neal Di Quatro, and numerous friends and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Chestnut; and one sister, Sandra Chestnut. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Virginia Brookins Chestnut; two children, Christopher Lee (Michelle) and Jeremy Lynn Chestnut; four grandchildren, Lelyn Chestnut, Jackson Chestnut, Katie Chestnut, and Kyle Chestnut; three great-grandchildren, Hazel, Zeke, and Kenni; his father, William N. Chestnut; one sister, Joy Holt (Grady); one brother, Scot Chestnut (Juli); his special cat, Sybbie who is 17 years old; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Panama City, Florida.
