IN LOVING MEMORY OF

"Jock" Cullen
September 27, 1943 – April 7, 2024
Stephen Gene (Jock) Cullen, Jr.
September 27, 1943 - April 7, 2024
The Lord called Jock Cullen to his heavenly home Sunday morning, April 7, 2024. Although the family here on Earth will deeply miss him, they rejoice that he is united with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His family includes his wife of 60 years, Margie Cullen, two daughters, Carol Leigh McGuffin (Tim), Paige Cullen Pullen (Dan), and one son, Kenny Cullen (Celina); seven grandchildren, Lauren McGuffin Fielding (John), Taylor McGuffin (Bethany), Bowen McGuffin (Jessica), Gabriel Pullen, Brody Cullen (Kristin), Garrett Cullen, Danielle Cullen; 8 great grandchildren, Molly, Cade, Brooks, Harper, Carson, Blake, Kallie and John Parker; his sister, Susan Franklin (Aubra), and brother, Val Cullen (Jennifer), and many nieces, nephews and cousins who all adored him. What a wonderful reunion it must have been on Sunday when he was greeted in heaven by his brother, Kenneth Arthur Cullen, and his parents, Stephen Gene Cullen, Sr. and Helen Grace Cullen.
A devout Christian, Jock loved to share the gospel. He worked with children having Bible studies and sharing Jesus in San Antonio, Texas, Panama City, Florida, and the Dothan, Alabama area. It was not unusual to see him praying with total strangers. We'd say, "Where's Daddy?" and the answer was typically one of us pointing, "Praying with someone over there."
Jock loved his family like no other. The children knew when Grandaddy was coming there would always be a Bible treasure hunt with the little ones. He used those opportunities to share Jesus or teach them God's wisdom. There were football games, baseball games, campouts, adventures in Virginia, airsoft battles, and hide and seek in flower beds all over the neighborhood. Nothing was too much for Grandaddy.
Jock grew up in the Cove in Panama City, playing baseball at Sudduth Park, a tradition carried on by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He graduated from Bay High School in 1961 and then attended the University of Florida where he played on the Gators golf team. He remained an avid Gator attending football games with great friends, creating lifetime memories. He started his career in insurance with his father at Cullen Insurance Agency on Harrison Avenue. He later started Cullen Video where he had arcades from Captain Anderson's, to Edgewater, and up and down Panama City Beach. He then started a ministry to support hurricane victims following Katrina: Supporting Hurricane Area Relief Efforts (SHARE 3:16) which later became Share 3:16 Youth Ministry. This ministry became his true calling and a source of fulfillment in his later years.
Jock will be remembered for his unwavering faith, boundless love for his family, and dedication to serving others. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Pallbearers include grandsons Taylor McGuffin, Bowen McGuffin, Brody Cullen, Garrett Cullen, Gabriel Pullen and John Fielding.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2 pm in the First Baptist Church of Panama City Fellowship Hall (former sanctuary, located at 6th Street and Harrison Avenue). The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, from 1-2 pm prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 17th Street and Lisenby Avenue.
