IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ssgt Samuel
"Sammy" Lofton Day Jr.
January 22, 1939 – August 3, 2023
SSGT Samuel "Sammy" Lofton Day Jr. of Lynn Haven, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the age of 84. Sammy was born on January 22, 1939 in Panama City, FL to Samuel L. Day Sr. and Odessa Day.
Sammy was a 1958 graduate of Bay High School. He was proud to serve in the United States Army National Guard for 12 years before being honorably discharged in 1970. He then went on to have his own business selling insurance up until the day he was called home by our heavenly father. He won numerous awards including National Guard Medals and ribbons, and Panama City Life Underwriter's Agent "Man of the Year Award."
He spent 64 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Barbara Day. He never let anyone forget just how much he loved his "sweet pea" any chance he got. He was truly the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that anyone could ever ask for.
Sammy was loyal, strong, patient, and kind. He always made sure his family was taken care of no matter what. He was what you called a true "family man" and couldn't have been more proud. There was no question that he loved them unconditionally, and they loved him, just as much, right back.
We will miss him more than words can say. We will forever cherish the sweet memories he gave us, his one of a kind laugh, listening to his words of wisdom and hearing the best stories around.
Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. Day Sr. and Odessa Day, and his precious daughters, Elaine England and Tonya Mullins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Day; daughter, April Day; grandchildren, Ericka Binz (Brad), Bradley Mullins, and Evan Nobles (Steven); and three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Drew and Jack; brother, John Day (Gloria); and niece, nephews, aunts, and multiple cousins.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with funeral services starting at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery (Lynn Haven Cemetery). Military honors will be conducted.
