Sonja Ann Wester, 86, of Callaway, FL, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 11, 2026. She was born in Bonifay, FL to Dick and Ida Branton on August 3, 1939. Sonja was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Glynn Wester, brother Doyle Branton and sister Joyce Platt.

Sonja graduated from Bay High School and attended Tom P. Haney Vocational-Technical Center. She was a member of Cavalry Baptist Church, joining as a teenager, and served as a teacher and choir member.

Sonja was fun-loving, had a terrific sense of humor, and was always up for a practical joke. She was a gifted artist, but put her painting aside to raise a family. She enjoyed reading, time at the beach, and traveling. One of her favorite places was the Great Smoky Mountains, but her trip of a lifetime was a tour of the Holy Land, which she experienced with some of her best friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Wester Deal (Scott); grandchildren, Justin Deal, Holly Farmer (Preston) and Brittany Carter (Jamie); great grandchildren, Lexie Conley, Kallie Deal, Brantley, Easton, Raegan & Nolan Farmer, Brody, Wyatt, Georgi & Beau Carter; sisters Linda Chaffin, Helen Atkinson; 17 nieces & nephews as well as friend, Martha Harris.

Sincere heartfelt thanks to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living for their compassionate care, and thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice for their kind attention to Sonja during her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 2:00pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church at 1529 Mulberry Avenue or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
