1937 – 2009

Soledad Longcop Labenia 71, died Sunday, Jan 11, 2009 in Panama City, Florida. She was born April 17 1937, in Gamay, N. Samar, Philippines to Lucas and Serafina Longcop. Soledad lived in the Philippines, England and Germany with her family. She is survived by her brother, Jovino Flores Longcop and her sister, Marcusa Longcop Nungay as well as her three children; Thelma (married to Launie Whelan) of Panama City, FL, Dra. Shirley (married to Alfon Osias); Gerry Labenia (married to Janeta Capoquian) both residing in Manila Philippines. She has nine Grandchildren; Genevieve (married to Ian Lucas), Cristalyn, and Patrick Whelan of Panama City FL, John Mark, Rosalia, Alfon Osias Jr. and Kyle Vincent, Kim Harold, and Kristine Joy Labenia of Manila Philippines. She also has two great-grandchildren; Landon and Reese Lucas of Robins GA. She is predeceased by 18 of her siblings, her parents and husband Romeo Labenia. She moved to Panama City with her daughter and son-in-law (and family) in 1998 and started working at Burger King (corner of 15th & Lisenby) in 1999, where she worked until Dec 2008. A special thanks to the Doctors and staff at Bay Medical Center (SICU and O/N ward) for their care and support for her family; also for the care and support of her co-workers and friends from Burger King and the Fil-Am of Bay Co. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan 14, from 6 – 8 p.m. with a rosary service to be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter Zalewski officiating. Per her wishes, her body will be transferred to the Philippines for interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to assist with honoring her desire to return to the Philippines may be dropped off at the Asian Connection (store) near the foot of the Dupont bridge, or to her family.
