SHELBY LEONARD WHATLEY
Shelby Leonard Whatley, 63, of Chipley, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009. He was born February 9, 1946 in Dothan, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 – 1970 and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He worked as an electrical engineer for Eglin Air Force Base from 1975 – 1981 and Coastal Systems Naval Base from 1981 until his retirement in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucius Dennis and Christine Burdeshaw Whatley. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Whatley; brother, Dennis Whatley and wife, Ruth; two sisters, Lucille Kensinger and husband, Merle, Margaret Rice and husband, Mike; three nieces, Kelly Burns, Kim Kensinger, Crissy Kensinger and nephew, Brian Sowell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
