Obituary

Sharon Jean Stockton, 79, of Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family at her bedside. Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service that will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have shared in her life. A lifelong advocate for education, Sharon earned her master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and devoted more than 25 years of her life to educating students as an Alabama public school teacher. Through her dedication to education, she made a lasting difference in the lives of the students she taught and the communities she served. While her professional accomplishments were a source of pride, her greatest treasure was always her family. Sharon shared a beautiful 61-year marriage with her husband and the love of her life, James William “Jim” Stockton. Together, they built a lifetime of memories, weathered life’s challenges, celebrated its blessings, and created a family whose love will continue to carry her memory forward. Their enduring love stands as a testament to a lifetime of commitment, partnership, and devotion. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Jim; her son, William Carl Stockton (Michelle); and her daughter, Tracey Vintson (Mick). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandsons, William Hunter Stockton (Meagan), Wyatt Vintson, and John Thomas Stockton, and her precious great-granddaughter, Collins Anne Stockton. She was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new great-granddaughter in December, another beautiful blessing and generation of the family she cherished. Sharon’s life was marked by her commitment to education, her devotion to her husband, and the love she poured into her family. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the love she shared will remain a lasting part of the lives she touched. Sharon’s final resting place will be in Double Springs, Alabama, where she will be laid to rest in a private family service surrounded by those who loved her most. Her life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her legacy will live on through the generations who follow her.
