Sharon Janeen Arteaga (Newell) was born to Lewis and Mary Evelyn Newell (West) on February 1, 1939 in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Sharon was many things, a square dancer, dedicated nurse, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She met the love of her life, Albert Arteaga after joining the Airforce. They were married in 1961 and had two children, Susan and Steven Arteaga. Their family of four moved to Tyndall Air Force Base in the 1970's and decided to make their lives here in Panama City, FL. She touched many lives over her lifetime career as a nurse. Beyond her career she was a caregiver to all of her family, always making sure everyone else was taken care of first. Many in the area know her from working for Dr. Elliot Monroe, Dr. Jim Deas and in recent years, Dr. Nguyen. She fought hard over the last year with cancer, going through treatments and continuing to work full time (she was a known workaholic). Sharon passed peacefully on the night of January 10, 2021 at her home, holding the hand of her true love of 60 years. She leaves behind her husband, Albert Arteaga, her children Susan and Steven Arteaga, her grandchildren, Shawn, Andrew, Alex, Alidia, Rachael, Nathaniel and Matthew, as well as her great-grandchildren, Brenden, Kingslie, Melani, Christian, Emberlee and Lyzik, all of Panama City, FL. There will be a visitation held on the 16th of January, 2021 at Wilson's Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 pm CT, located at 214 Airport Road, Panama City, FL 32405. Anyone is welcome to come to say goodbye and celebrate her life. The Arteaga family thanks everyone for their support.
