Obituary

Sara Alyce Guilford Stewart passed away peacefully in her home of 53 years on Friday, June 15, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartford, Alabama on January 29, 1936. She graduated from Geneva County High School in 1954. A former Miss Hartford, AL., she was active in Panama City with the Junior Women's Club, the St Andrews Bay Yacht Club, and was a long time member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church. She retired from the electrical contracting business in 2002. She was preceded into heaven by parents, Mr. and Mrs. George and Doris Guilford, Sr., sister, Delores (Chuck) Kelly, brother, George Guilford, Jr. She is survived by her son, Crook Stewart, III and Vicki Ziegler, and two daughters, Mary Leigh Stewart Owens and fiancé Kevin Pettibone, Kelley Anne Stewart Heaton, husband Tracy , and beloved grandson Aidan Stewart Heaton, Sisters, Jean (Billy) Davis, Ruth (David) Avery, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as very special friends, Art and June Mashburn. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to all who have provided care to Sara during her journey, especially Dr. Keith Banton, Dr. William Dent, Dr. Frank Lu and his wonderful nurses, Sara and April, and our friends at Covenant Hospice, Laurie, Jackie and Patricia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sara may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
