Sara Ellen Bevel Dean, 84, of Panama City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in Tallahassee, Florida, with her family at her side. She was born on May 30, 1930, in Panama City to the late H.J. and Evelyn Bevel.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alton Brooks Dean; her sister, Georgia Ulmer and her husband, Marvin; her daughters, Sara Faulkenberry and her husband, David, and Rachel Thornell and her husband, Mike; and five grandchildren, Brittany Thornell, Michael Thornell, Brooke Thornell, Sara Beth Faulkenberry, and Jacob Thornell.
She was a loving and faithful daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed needlework, she was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and she spent hours caring for her plants and garden. She was a 1948 graduate of Bay High School, and she was retired from Goody Products, and the Bay County Public Library.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with graveside services immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 2 – 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Music Fund or the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
