Sara S. Daffin, 98, passed away in her home in Panama City, Florida on January 3, 2024. She was born on August 7, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama to George W. and Docia W. Solomon. Raised in Mobile, Sara graduated from Murphy High School. She then went to John Gaston School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee where she met a young intern, the love of her life, Sidney E. Daffin, MD. They were happily married for 66 years until his death in 2013. They moved to Panama City in July 1950 after living in Sendai, Japan where Sid was stationed while serving in the Army and after completing his residency at Tampa General Hospital.
Sara enjoyed water skiing, scalloping, golf, tennis and bridge. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and an excellent cook. She was active in the Junior League, Bay Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary- "Pink Ladies" and a longtime member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, now known as The Village Church of St. Andrews.
Predeceasing her were her parents, her husband, brother W. Wilson Solomon, sisters, Pauline Cox and Elizabeth Stacey. Surviving her are her children: Diana "Cissy" Senechal (Pete), Robert "Robbie" Daffin IV (Mary Kathryn), Suki Daffin (Bill Dobbs) and Dale Garrison (Wes Smith); her grandchildren, James Senechal, MD (Julie), and Sara Walker (Scott); her great grand children, Mckenna and Scarlett Garrison, Danika and Dakota Walker, Eli and Keira Senechal.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery in Panama City, Florida. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, Samaritan's Purse, Boone, NC or the charity of your choice.
