Sara Culbreth Cooper, 90, of Panama City, FL died on December 21, 2017. She was born on December 11, 1927 in Gordon, AL and grew up in Panama City, graduating from Bay High. She then entered and graduated from FSU with a degree in Elementary Education. She also earned her Master's degrees from FSU. She was a performing member of the first FSU Circus. Sara was employed by the Bay County School system for 40 years. At the time of her retirement she was the Assistant Principal at Mosley High School. She was very active in service at First Baptist Church Panama City and was a faithful choir member for 65 years. Sara was past president of the Bay County Educators Association, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active in the Central Panhandle Fair and Woman's Club of Panama City. She was predeceased by her husband, WC Cooper Jr.; son, Mark Cooper; sisters, Joan Parker, Helen Schrenker and Marynell Adams. Sara is survived by her son, Matt (Cheryl); daughter-in-law, Linda; granddaughter, Christina;sister, Bayne Coonce (Jim), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 28, 2017 at 1pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-1 pm prior to the service.
