Samuel Carroll Rowe, Sr., 88 of Panama City, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014. He was born on December 17, 1925, in Elba, Alabama. He was a member of the Panama City Lions Club and was honored in 2008 for 50 years of service, the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, which is the highest award given by the Lions Club International Foundation. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and in 2011 became a Deacon Emeritus and Trustee. For 17 years he was a commissioned agent for Chevron Oil Company and since 1971 has owned S.C. Rowe, Inc. He had a great time working with his son, Sammie, and grandsons, Chris and Patrick. He is survived by his wife, LaNelle Rowe; son, Samuel C. "Sammie" Rowe Jr. and wife, Jan; two grandchildren, Samuel Christopher Rowe, Sr. and wife Ashley, Patrick Kyle Rowe and wife Jennifer; four great grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Rowe, Madison Brooke Rowe, Samuel Christopher Rowe, Jr., Parker O'Neal Rowe; and one brother, William Davis Rowe and wife Mary Oswald; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dunn and many very special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and the Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Panama City. The pallbearers are Larry Barnes, Kenny Barron, Tommy Berry, Randy Dorman, Reggie Gilbert, Jerome Tidwell, Dean Tucker, and Tommy Welch. Honorary pallbearers are Nick Barron, Earl Cochran, John Cooper, Tommy Earnest, Bill Frost, Bill Lawrence and Carl Russ, the Deacons at First Baptist Church, Lions Club Members, and past and present Chevron Employees.
