RUTH LILLIAN PLEDGER HELMS
Ruth Lillian Pledger Helms, 88, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013. She was born August 31, 1924 in Wetappo Creek, Florida to Thomas & Lillie Belle Pledger. She was a 1942 graduate of Bay High School. She was a retired bookkeeper having worked for the Ritz Theatre, Panama City News Herald and WMBB. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Helms, Sr; two sisters, Laura Belle Vassie, Woody Lunsford; and two brothers, Jimmy Pledger and Woodson Pledger. She is survived by her five children, Hayden Helms, Jr, Donald Helms (Barbara), Mike Helms (Karen), Ken Helms (Jeanie), Rhetta Stanley (David Sr.); fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Ann Steele (Cleveland); one sister-in-law, Jenelle Pledger; special friend, Elsie Eddy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of Hall 4 at Bay Center Nursing Home.
