Obituary
Our Hearts are saddened as we grieve for the loss of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Ruth Mae Parrish Childers Brand. But we rejoice that 2 Corinthians 5:8 says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and we are of good courage that she was present in Heaven on the morning of July 2, 2014 as she left this earth with her daughters by her side holding her hand. Now she is holding the hand of Jesus surrounded by those who preceded her to Heaven.
She was born on February 21, 1934 to Lamon Lawson and Essie Mae Parrish of Panama City, FL. Her passion in life was being a devoted and loving mother to her 12 children, stepdaughter, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, listening to country and gospel music and going to the health club. She touched many people with her love, kindness and caring.
Survived by her husband of 44 years, Ruben D. Brand, and children, Andre and wife, Leslie Childers, Mike and wife, Connie Parrish, Keith L. Childers, Teresa R. Reaves, Steven R. Childers, David M. Childers, Angela D. Childers and NeeNee Roxanne Coplin and Stepdaughter Patricia and husband, Mal Fousek and Sister Barbara Ann Smith and husband Bob Smith of Pensacola, Florida, sister-in-law, Janet Parrish of Boaz, Alabama and a brother-in-law, Duke Magee of Panama City. She was also survived by her beloved cat, Gubanya, who misses her mom very much.
Predeceased by her parents, her former husband, Willie James Childers of Panama City, children, Audie James Childers, Karen Sue Childers, Carey Clayton Childers, Mark Anthony Childers and by her 4 brothers Earl, Wayne, Carl, Dwayne and 4 sisters, Ruby, Francis, Betty and a Baby Sister.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Wilson's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the Wilson's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at The Rock Church located at 2413 Harris Avenue, near the intersection of Hwy. 231 & 23rd Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paws and Claws PO Box 7412 Panama City Beach, FL 32413.
