RUTH PEACOCK FUNCHESS

Ruth Peacock Funchess, a longtime resident of Panama City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Tallahassee, Florida. Ruth was born in Dothan, Alabama, on July 3, 1928 to Wright R. and Euradell Peacock. She moved to Panama City with her parents and brother, Jimmy, in the mid-40s and was a proud member of the Bay High Million Dollar Band and the Bay High Class of 1947. She married the love of her life, Karl D. Funchess, in 1947 and together they raised their four children in Panama City. She was a 50+-year member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City and a Sunday School teacher and a choir member for many years.
She loved her Lord Jesus, her church, her family and her friends and was greatly loved in return. She was a talented seamstress and loved music, books and, in her later years, politics.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James W. Peacock, and her husband, Karl.
Ruth leaves behind her daughter, Kathryn Funchess of Tallahassee, Florida, her daughter, Marsha Goodwin (Steven) of Johns Creek, Georgia, her daughter, Carol Cook (William) of Panama City; her son, Joel Funchess (Marie) of Tallahassee; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Annie and McLain Goodwin and Michael (Kaitlyn), Jimmy (Katelyn) and Betsy Joy Funchess; her beloved great-granddaughter, Aubrey Goodwin; sisters-in-law, Betty D. Peacock, Fay Foster; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Funchess (Lynn). She is also survived by nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones, including her little dog "Sassy."
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 16, at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Panama City, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402, the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, FL 32317 or to the Elder Care Services of the Big Bend, 2518 W Tennessee Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304.
